Record Label Permission

In order to use our chosen song, it is required of us by the exam board, OCR, that we send an email to the appropriate people(s) in regard to permission for the chosen song under the chosen artist.

Seeing as Passion Pit are under two different record labels, we had to search around on the websites in order to find both the contact details. Yet we were unable to find any contact details for Columbia records, so therefore we stuck to emailing Frenchkiss records instead.

Therefore, once we had found the appropriate email address, Amy created the permissions email on behalf of the group. Once we had all approved of the email, she sent it to Frenchkiss records, and we will now await their reply.

Why is permission important?

It is important to get the required permission for our song because the artist may not want anyone to use their song(s) to recreate media related items. Although it is unlikely that they will decline our request, it is still important that we have acknowledged the importance of copyright and that we therefore need to ask the permission. The chances are that the reply will include something along the lines of being able to use the song, as long as it is not for profit purposes. Which of course, it is not, it is just for our a2 coursework.

(UPDATE: (9th Dec) We are still yet to receive any reply for permission, so if we have not heard any response by the 13th (the day before we start filming) then we will go ahead as normal)
